Atorie bu was founded by ceramic artist Buket Kınalıkaya in 2016. Following her studies at Parsons University in New York, Kınalıkaya undertook a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. She began her career working as a studio assistant for ceramicist Kristin McKirdy, and then held various teaching positions in the United States before establishing her own studio upon return to Istanbul. Continual shaping with the hand, material balanced with an idea. Seed and plant, stone and architecture. Experiments in glaze chemistry and clay body blends formulating a textured library of functional slipware and uniquely sculptural pieces.
