1.Tell us briefly about the identity and philosophy of your brand? How is it inspired and
influenced by the cornerstones of the store this summer, craft, culture & creativity?
First of all, Laika is addressing something that the world is in need of at the moment. We are
supporting sustainable fashion by using fabrics made from 100% natural fibers. We also made a
decision to connect this with my art driven by nature inspirations, which is a great motivation
for me. My paintings are my main source of inspiration and by merging that with these precious
fabrics, it is, in my humble opinion, is the perfect kind of partnership. Which is I believe to be
the cornerstones of the store as well.
2.How is it tied to travel?
As nature being the main source of my inspiration, and myself being rooted to a geography
consisting of mountains and rivers, I believe there’s always somewhere hidden for me to seek
and explore in nature. Travel is my main explorer.
3.For what reasons do you travel?
Soul needs healing no matter in what condition it is; travel lets me find the natural gem
required for it.
4.What are some of your most unforgettable escapes that have shaped and inspired the
identity of your brand?
Japan amazed me by the culture they’re living in, how they respect life, each other and nature
This is something very precious and inspiring at the same time. However, UK is on the other
hand, one of the best combinations for inner city chaos and sudden escapes from it. Obviously
this led me think of the unity in every chapter of life in my designs.
5.Where do you search for inspiration?
Nature feeds my art, which is my core inspiration.
6.What’s one piece from your own collection that you always bring on travels?
Earthy scarf is my all-time companion, absolutely indispensable; travels with me everywhere.
7.What about a piece that’s perfect for a holiday on the Turkish riviera?
I have no doubt that the colors of the Ebba scarf will complete the beach motivation
8.What are some of your favorite escapes here at home, hidden gems in Turkey?
I think that every time I travel, I forget my identity, myself, all my foreign perceptions, and I
believe that I am a part of the soil of the stone, Pokut. Greetings to those beautiful mountains
that made me believe in the budding of the brand.
9.Share with us one of your favorite travel memories or anecdotes..
In my road trip to Greece, there was a photo poster that caught my eyes and soul, from
Thessaloniki to Afitos. I just couldn’t stop and get the poster. I came across the exhibition of
that poster next to where we were staying during the travel.
10.Favorite travel film or book?
Green Book is the movie that fits
11.Where are you dreaming of escaping to next?
Greece is going to be my next route.
12.What does traveling mean to you?
I respect the Earth, and believe that we are here to live with the Mother Nature. This world is
ready for all of us to experience, explore and share; thus traveling would last until life lasts.
