What is your most unforgettable escape? Going to Sri Lanka, many times.
What was the purpose of your travel? On holiday, but I have worked on many design projects over there.
With how many people did you travel? Normally 2 or 3, but I actually know people there, so it’s always a whole group of friends.
Where did you stay? I stayed in a hotel, which was created by Marian McIntyre, which is called the sun house in the town called Galle in the south west of the country.
What do you most like about the trip? The combination of the amazing people, the places we visited, the complete lifestyle.
Could you share an unforgettable memory about the trip? We took a helicopter over the jungle at dawn which was absolutely extraordinary watching the mist and the monkeys swing between the trees.
Your most surprising find during the trip? Buying monks robes in all the different colours of saffron yellow.
Favorite restaurant or food you have tried during your trip? Having egg hoppers off a stand by the road by the bus stop in Harumalgoda Junction.
What is the must tries of the city? In Sri Lanka there are many must tries, but you have to experience on one side the extraordinary beaches and the low lands and the mountains in the central Sri Lanka where the tea is grown.
Any hidden gems you could whisper to us? The Kandy to Columbo express train which travels at about 10 km per hour.
Would you go back? Yes, and I have done many times.
Could you list a few of your favorite finds you came back with? These can be anything from traditional finds to airport finds to hotel creams! Cotton fabrics from table linen for Barefoot in Columbo and try to meet it’s wonderful creator Barbara Sansoni and a mango juice in their café.
Any tips that might be useful to know before going there? Take very strong insect repellent.
Next stop you would like to visit? Argentina or Iceland.
