The Sunsets of Hammamet & Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia

Traveler: Ariel de Ravenel – Creative Director

Where are you escaping to? Hammamet in Tunusia.

What was the purpose of your travel? Vacation.

With how many people did you travel? Several friends.

Where did you stay? Stayed with a friend. But there was a very beautiful hotel called ”Dar Said” in Sidi Bou Said that we went to visit.

How did you get around? By walking or car.

What did you most like about the trip? The people, colors, the sea, amazing sunsets and Jasmines.

tunisia

Could you share an unforgettable memory about the trip? Visiting The ”Ennejma Ezzahra Palace” that was built by the Baron D’erlanger -my great great uncle- in Sidi Bou Said.

Your most surprising find during the trip? Not much of a surprise but a real joy from the kindness of the local people. However I was deeply shocked to see that tourists had deserted Tunisia following the terrorist attacks. Which iş fairly dramatic as so many people rely on visitors in the holiday season.

Favorite restaurant(s) or food you have tried during your trip? Ashour in Hammamet.

What are the must tries of the city? The Medina.

Any hidden secrets you could whisper to us? Beautiful private houses in the Medina and along the beach.

Would you go back? Absolutely.

Could you list a few of your favorite finds you came back with? Beautiful Futas, lovely Hammered silver chains, delicious scents of bouquets and necklaces made of Jasmine which are given to you everywhere.

Any tips that might be useful to know before going there? Nothing in particular. But it’s a good place to switch off as internet connections are not the best.

Next stop you would like to visit? Many Places in Tunusia, in particular Kelibia where my friends lives.
