The Most Mysterious Island of the Cyclades

Traveler: Sofia El Arabi – Fashion Designer

What is your most unforgettable escape? The unforgettable escape is the one you are still living in… My mind and my cloudy body stayed in Amorgos, the most mysterious island of the Cyclades, it felts like people knew a secret about this island that they would not tell you until they trust you…

What was the purpose of your travel? Treading a land that has successfully created from its complex geographical position a culture-mosaic born from the mix.

With how many people did you travel? My Husband… but it felt like I was traveling with the whole country, people have been so welcoming, you are just delightfully moving with the wind.

Where did you stay? Mostly on bnb. I wanted something comfy but not fancy, contemporary but not history-less.

What did you most like about the trip? My eyes liked the reverberation of the sunlight on the Aegean Sea, my ears cherished evolving with the gracious sound of the blue Greek Church, and the whole me liked me feeling each sensation of being fully alive.

Could you share an unforgettable memory about the trip? I discovered my half suicidal passion for jumps from high rocks…the sensation is amazing, it is like a purifying spiritual dive that connects with the One when you feel this water enfolding you like a cherishing mother.

Your most surprising find during the trip? That it does not cost you that much…well except when swimming makes you hungry as a whale on diet…

Favorite restaurants or food you have tried during your trip? Grilled Feta with honey…it makes you feel as guilty as Big Mama, but this taste will have you fly like a ten grams bird

What are the must tries of the city? Paradissia Beach. Try to remember each instant of you admiring the landscapes, in this type of magic moments you must be like a camera filming yourself living the experience…not that technically easy but I am sure you got me haha.

Any hidden gems you could whisper to us? Rent a motorcycle ( that makes noise haha ) and just don’t be afraid to explore those little corners of the islands where no one go.

Could you list a few of your favorite finds you came back with? I am ashamed as a Fashion Fancy Formidable Fucci Gucci blogger to admit that I only came back with shells..dozens of wonderful shells and rocks for the Red, Black and white amazingly beautiful beaches of Milos. I love them, they are like the sea “ waving “ to me in my own house.

Any tips that might be useful to know before going there? For you first trip in Greece, start with Mykonos, Paros & Anti Paros and then Naxos & Santorini. In the morning when you’ll be ready to explore, always make sure to go to the grocery to take (1 bread, 1 fresh feta, 1 tomato, 100g of olives and some fruits) to be free all day and eat wherever you want. One of my favourite thing was when I found the perfect beach and we were completely alone was to prepare sandwiches and realize that was the most romantic and amazing restaurant in the world.

Next stop you would like to visit? Australia… I think my bag is ready since I am 14.
