Taganga, Tayrona National Natural Park

Traveler: Başak Ağaoğlu | Designer

What is your most unforgettable escape? Taganga and Tayrona national natural park in Colombia.

What was the purpose of your travel? My boyfriend was traveling in South America for a few months. We decided to meet in Colombia and explore the northern coast together.

With how many people did you travel? We were two.

Where did you stay? We stayed in a guest hostel in Taganga which is a small fishing village, very close to Tayrona. In Tayrona, we were camping so we stayed in our tent.

What did you most like about the trip? Seeing the untouched beauty of Tayrona, hiking to beaches, boulder scrambling, spending time with indigenous people and at the end of the day falling asleep to the sounds of crashing waves.

Could you share an unforgettable memory about the trip? After a 3 hour hike through the jungle, dirt tracks and rivers in Tayrona, hearing the sound of the ocean and reaching the beautiful beach Cabo San Juan .

Any hidden gems you could whisper to us? Cabo has a great viewpoint right in the middle of its two beaches where you can watch the sunset over the mountains. You should spend late afternoons on the rocks, enjoying the beautiful view.

Would you go back? Yes, definitely.

Could you list a few of your favorite finds you came back with? These can be anything from traditional finds to airport finds to hotel creams! Handbags and bracelets made by the Wayuu people.

Any tips that might be useful to know before going there? Don’t forget to bring a strong insect repellent spray with you. You will need to put a strong fight back against mosquitoes.

Next stop you would like to visit? Nepal. Trekking through Annapurna Circuit.
