1. Tell us briefly about the identity and philosophy of your brand? How is it inspired and influenced by the cornerstones of the store this summer, craft, culture & creativity?
R2P is a brand specialized in fine linen clothing for those who look for a comfortable yet sophisticated look. I use quality fabrics that are made from quality yarns, I try to create an aesthetic that will not last one season. I want my clothes to be easy to combine yet create a sophisticated look. I follow the trends in that way. Nowadays, we consume things very quickly, and World resources cannot adjust themselves. With the global warming and pandemic, we should all start to understand that we should slow down and use all of our resources wisely. Linen has a lot of qualities and the most important ones are biodegradability and sustainability. I think the world needs more nature-conscious brands and nature-conscious supporters so we can survive.
2. For what reasons do you travel?
When I travel I can get away from my daily routine and I can get inspired by new ways of life. Escaping daily responsibilities gives me peace of mind. I try to act like a local and try not to do a lot of plans that give me a sense of freedom and flexibility.
3. What are some of your most unforgettable escapes that have shaped and inspired the identity of your brand?
One of my favorite places to visit is Menorca Island.
It is a very small island but I find it very inspiring. Nature is very beautiful and mostly untouched. The whole island is architecturally very colorful and unique. It has a very laid-back feel, people are wearing very comfortable clothes, but I find it very stylish at the same time. It is an effortlessly beautiful place, with a sense of history behind it. I find linen material exactly like that effortlessly beautiful comfortable stylish and has a history.
4. Where do you search for inspiration?
I usually get inspired by little details; I like to analyze real life. I want my design to be functional and easy to wear. I would look at architectural and material designs in that sense and I try to understand the creative mindset. This feeds my creativity a lot. I think clothes should be comfortable but also they should make you feel good inside. Linen is a very unique material, it definitely leads you somewhere, it is an inspiration on its own. I find also vintage fashion design very inspiring.
5. What’s one piece from your own collection that you always bring on travels?
I usually carry around my Linen tied shirt and one linen jersey dress. They have always been a lifesaver for me.
6. What about a piece that’s perfect for a holiday on the Turkish riviera?
I would definitely go with a linen jersey dress, it will make you feel fresh, effortlessly chic, and comfortable.
7. What are some of your favorite escapes here at home, hidden gems in Turkey? Share with us one of your favorite travel memories or anecdotes.
My friend has a little boutique hotel in Bozburun, called Karia Bel. You can only go there by little boat ride. It used to be their summer house now they turned it into this little heaven. If you go there definitely rent a boat and go around the coast and find out the little gems of the Aegean.
8. Favorite travel film or book?
I think self-development books are best for travels. I find it easier to understand the authors’ point of view when I am away from the hectic timeline of the workdays. Plus, they give you positivity. Recently, I read Seyir Piraye and I would highly recommend it.
9. Where are you dreaming of escaping to next?
I would love to go to Africa.
10. What does traveling mean to you?
I love to experience new things, I think it is a perfect way to grow, and also going out from your daily routine and living other people’s lives for a day or two, definitely leaves traces in the memory and it gives you a better understanding of life. This makes a huge impact on the way I design and find solutions to things everywhere in my life.
